CELEBRATE JULY 4TH NEAR NYC RENTALS

Written by on 27.06.16

Every Fourth of July, New York City is illuminated by Macy’s spectacular firework display, with bright sparks of color shooting across the skyline. But there’s so much more to Independence Day 2016 than this annual spectacle. From film festivals to restaurant weeks, “Gotham” will host events in neighborhoods all over the metropolis this July 4th. Here are three you should check out.

IndieFest 2016 Close to Midtown East Apartments

Visit the Peoples Improv Theater — located at 123 E 24th St, a mile from Dryden East apartments — on Monday, July 4, for the sixth annual IndieFest, which features cutting-edge comedy, live music and a free BBQ. The event kicks off at noon and runs right through to Tuesday midnight with local, underground comics and indie bands taking to the stage.

If you feel thirsty during the festival, hit the late-night bars in this part of Manhattan for July 4th drinks. Roof at Park South on East 27th, just footsteps away from the theater, boasts stunning panoramic vistas of the New York skyline; the bar fuses cocktails with Mediterranean cuisine at its tucked-away location. Turnmill, a few doors down, sells craft beers in a log cabin-style setting.

French Restaurant Week Near Greenwich Village Rentals

The seventh annual French Restaurant Week, which runs from Independence Day to Sunday, July 17, celebrates Franco-American cuisine, with participating eateries serving indigenous grub at revolutionary prices. More than 40 restaurants across the “Big Apple” are taking part, including Le Baratin in Greenwich Village, less than a mile from 144 Bleecker Street apartments. Here, menu faves include steak frites with a homemade peppercorn sauce and rosé wine.

With its laid-back atmosphere and bistro-style layout, Le Baratin tempts diners with traditional French fare. If you want to beat the rush this Independence Day, book your table early and celebrate French-American relations in style.

HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival Close to The Town House

Less than a mile from The Town House apartments, Bryant Park welcomes movie buffs with a season of Hollywood blockbusters. On July 4th, “Top Gun” — the adventure-packed Tom Cruise classic that grossed more than $350 million at the box office — will be shown on a massive screen. The event, which is free, starts at 5 p.m. You can bring your own blanket, find a spot on the park’s lawn and relive the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Oscar winner. If a romance action flick is not your thing, the film festival airs “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” on Monday, June 20, and “East of Eden” on Monday, June 27.
