Philly Apartment Bedroom Hacks

Philadelphia is one of the largest, oldest cities in America, which is why locals love to call it “home.” It’s a unique city because it’s full of all the conveniences you could want, but the neighborhoods feel small without any big city nuisances. If you’re moving to Philly, you’ll want to set up your space quickly so you can enjoy all the area has to offer.

Whether you’re moving to Ardmore or Old City, these design hacks can help you make the most of your Philly apartment space.

1. Disguise Your Desk as a Bedside Table

Purchase a console table for your bedroom that serves multiple purposes. Slide it next to your bed for a bedside table, or lay it across your bed for a desk space. You can even use it as a food tray when you’re feeling creative.

If you need a more permanent workspace, try placing a desk at the foot of your bed so you have more wall space for other furniture. Or you could nix the bedside table and put a work table there instead. Add a lamp, and you’ll have the perfect desk/nightstand combination.

2. Place Your Bed on Risers

Want your bed to look super comfortable and high-end? Need a little more storage space for small items such as clothes or shoes? Try propping your bed up on risers. Just place one under each leg of your bed frame to add several inches of storage space underneath. Plus, a higher bed becomes a nice focal point for the room, making it seem more luxurious.

3. Make a Low-Profile Hanging Hamper

There’s no reason for a clothes hamper to take up valuable floor space. You can make a low-profile hamper out of an embroidery hoop and a pillowcase. Place a hook on the wall for easy hanging. It’s a pretty and functional DIY project you can do in an hour.

4. Use Every Corner of Space

When it comes to using your apartment space, you may need to think outside the box a little. Not enough closet space? Try hanging a rod on the wall for easy access to the clothes you wear every day. You can organize your jewelry on hooks for a pretty display that keeps necklaces from tangling. Add a mirror to the back of your bedroom door, and don’t forget shelves above your bed for books and knickknacks.
